Frequently Asked Questions

WELCOME TO THE ALLIED ARMY !

Want to know more first ???

Then please take a moment to read the following. If we did our homework right, we should be able to address most of your questions below.

What is the Allied Army?

Well, the simple answer is that we are one clan with two teams. We’ve got the 43rd Wessex Brigade and the 79th Infantry Division.

The longer answer is that our number one goal is to recruit people who first and foremost are great people. This isn’t some pie in the sky goal, it really is the core of our recruiting philosophy. We are looking for guys who have great communication, great teamwork and most importantly, great sportsmanship. If you’re a nozzle, don’t even bother applying in the Allied Army, skill is unimportant, attitude is everything. If you're that kind of player, not only are we looking for you but more importantly, you're probably looking for us.

Why are your forums practically empty ?!

You must first register at the forum to see the majority of the topics. So please register. Don't worry it's easy, just go to the forum and click register, choose a username (preferably you game name), choose a password, add an email address and viola.. You're in!!

Ok, so you’re a bunch of decent guys...but do you have your act together ?!?

Chuckling here. Yes, we have our act together. In fact what you’ll find is quite impressive (glotting with biased enthusiasm). We are very well structured, adhering to the spirit of the military-oriented games that we play. We have a fair number of players who consistently own the map on virtually ANY public server. We’re not invincible but we definitely hold our own. At the same time you'll find any member of the Allied Army willing and able to help out newcomers and old-timers alike.

I don’t get it, you let in newer players but you’re telling me you’re competitive..HOW?

This is important. We believe that two guys of medium skill, working together will be far more effective than two guys of great skill working alone. Sounds pretty simple, and it is, but this really is the key. Our guys practice together, they play together, and they work very very well together. If having a guy covering your six or taking a covering fire angle for you sounds appealing this might be the right place for you, if you’re a Lone Ranger, the Allied Army probably isn’t going to be a good fit.

All right, sounds good so far, what team can I be on?

Well .... it's not quite that easy. We really are serious about knowing who we are playing with and being sure you’re a guy that other public players will look up to. Usually it takes some time playing with somebody to really know how it’s going to work out. That’s where the [AAReg] tag comes in!

AAReg Tag? What the is an AAReg?

If you play on the [AA]Allied Army servers frequently, and have been on them for awhile, you may wish to join our clan. But before you can be assigned to one of our teams, you must first be an [AAreg].

[AAreg] is an intro tag we assign to recruits interested in joining the [AA]Allied Army, reg standing for regular. When they see an [AAreg] doing very good, communicating, representing, and are proud to contribute, then there is a likely candidate to be a part of the [AA]Allied Army clan.

[AAreg] is a tag for recognition that (1) You love our servers and spend your time there, (2) You are able to play well with others (positive attitude), and (3) Your conduct is top-notch.

[AAreg] membership is not forced upon anyone, although many are granted it.

Being an [AAReg] really works both ways. This gives us a chance to work with you, to see your playing style, to measure your attitude, to find a weapon class that really works well for you, and it gives each of the Team Members a chance to see places where you are really strong and places where minor improvements might be made. Most importantly, it gives you an opportunity to take a look at the Allied Army. Put us under the microscope....

Here's the important part, ALL the teams MUST recruit their members from the AARegs. We don’t do any outside recruiting. Again, we’re trying to avoid the nozzle factor. If you want to be on one of the teams, you have to be an AAReg first. The teams only draft [AAreg] members after our recruiting team has completed their evaluation.

Whoa ! What evaluation?

Remember while you are wearing an [AAreg] tag, members of the Allied Army will be watching you. In essence they are evaluating whether they want you as part of our family. The Recruiting Team is a small group of players that have devoted considerable amounts of their time to identify and guide new recruits into the Allied Army. Part of their job is to collect inputs from our clan members and come up with an overall recommendation on whether you would be a good asset for our clan. Once this evaluation is determined (typically this takes a couple weeks), the Recruiting Team will inform the Allied Army Council that you are ready to be drafted to a team.

How do I become an AAReg member?

Ahhh, this is the easy part. Just come play on the servers, have a good time, play fair, use your mic and help your teammates out! Pretty soon people start noticing guys with great attitudes. Next step is to get signed up and active on the forums alliedarmy.com Drop a quick hello post and take a tour, you’ll find that we use the forums quite a bit! Finally, if you decide that you’d still like to become a member and you think the guys have seen you enough to recognize you… Place a quick post in the AAReg Membership Request section. Make sure you go to the usergroups on the forum and submit to join the AAreg team. Once you are accepted to the user group AAReg Team, then you will need to place the tag [AAReg] in front of your name. The team captains and also other AA players will monitor your play for the up-coming draft.

What’s the difference between each of the teams?

Nothing actually other than the name. Skill levels are comparable, the rules and rank structures are identical. Having separate teams allows us to constantly hone our skills against different players, it allows us to support more players in competitive teams within the clan and finally it lets us compete individually as teams in the various leagues.

What are the names of the Teams?

Day Of Defeat Teams:

43 Wessex Brigade

79th Infantry Division

Where can I find your servers?

All our server information can be found on our website's home page.

Do you use a voice comm. program?

Yes, we primarily use Ventrilo for all Day of Defeat and official clan business. You can download Ventrillo for free at www.ventrilo.com.

More questions ???

Come on into our forums, Ventrillo, TeamSpeak, or email us. Anyone in the Allied Army will be happy to help answer whatever questions you might have.
